Dr Pamela Weir - Ophthalmologist & Medical Director

Dr Pamela Weir is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with over 25 years of experience. Dr Pam provides surgical services including cataract surgery with standard and premium lenses. She also performs sutureless pterygium surgery and eyelid surgery. Dr Pam has extensive experience in all medical aspects of ophthalmology. She has a particular interest in vascular diseases of the retina such as macular degeneration and macular oedema.
Dr Pam graduated from the University of NSW in 1987 with honours. She specialised in ophthalmology with 3 years of further training in the UK. She obtained her Membership of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 1989. On returning to Australia, Dr Pam trained in systemic and neuro-ophthalmology at Royal Prince Alfred hospital in Sydney. She later completed her training at Sydney Eye Hospital. In 1996 she became a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists.
Dr Pam has been involved in teaching eye surgery for many years and is the author of “The Little Red Eye Book”. She still lectures to medical students, optometrists, ophthalmology registrars and ancillary staff.
Dr Pam is the founder of myeyespecialist and Medical Director of Gold Coast Eye Hospital.
Dr Andrea Zarkovic - Ophthalmologist

Dr Andrea Zarkovic is an experienced cataract surgeon. She offers a full range of state-of-the-art intraocular lenses to customers wishing to minimise the use of glasses. Andrea sub-specialised in treatment of age-related macular degeneration and other retinal conditions. She also specialises in surgical and medical treatments of eyelid disorders. Dr Zarkovic has over 10 years of experience in general ophthalmology and emergency eye medicine.
After completing her medical and ophthalmology training in New Zealand and becoming a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists, Dr Zarkovic completed medical retinal fellowship in the United Kingdom, with particular emphasis on treatment of wet macular degeneration, vein occlusions and diabetic retinopathy. Having also worked as part of the medical retina team in New Zealand’s largest ophthalmology department, Dr Zarkovic has a unique perspective on the latest trends in available treatments both in Australia and internationally.
Dr Zarkovic has dual sub-specialty training with a further UK fellowship in eyelid and lacrimal surgery. Her area of interest is the treatment of watery eyes, lax or droopy eyelids and diagnosis and treatment of lid lesions including surgical reconstruction.
Dr Zarkovic is known for her approachable and caring manner, perfectionist approach to cosmetic lid surgery and attentiveness to patient’s individual needs. Andrea’s aim is that her patients are delighted with the care they receive and she achieves this by providing knowledgeable, clear explanations and answering all patient questions directly and honestly.
Jennie Lekich - Operations Manager

Jennie is proud to be part of the myeyespecialist and Gold Coast Eye Hospital teams. Having come from a strong clinical and administrative background in both an outpatient and inpatient environment, Jennie is utilizing her skill base to ensure patients experience a seamless and informative journey throughout the facility.
Jennie’s clinical expertise is in Intensive Care and specifically the Operating Theatre environment. Having trained at Royal Brisbane Hospital as a “hospital trained nurse”, she remained in ICU and the Operating theatre for several years. She has had vast clinical and operational experience since then, having co-founded a stand-alone day greenfield hospital (three theatres and one procedure room), and led the business as the Director of Nursing. Having ‘turned’ every stone from site acquisition to setting up theatre instrumentation, Jennie is familiar with the legislative and building requirements for health facilities.
During this time, she completed an MBA and the Juris Doctor of Law (Cum Laude) and is currently a Barrister-at-Law in Queensland. She taught students at Bond University in the areas of Corporations, Tax and Trust Accounting Law. She also co-contributed to the Medical Law course at Bond University and was appointed as an Adjunct Professor for a short term.
Jennie has expanded her skills further into Quality Management and has been instrumental in setting up the systems for accreditation in both day hospitals and overnight facilities.
Jennie lives on the Gold Coast and enjoys spending time with her partner and three children, and relaxing at the beach.
Raj Maiti - Therapeutic Optometrist
B.Optom (HONS), Therapeutics, CACL, OA
As a therapeutic Optometrist, Raj started his working career in rural New Zealand (Invercargill) where he learned the basics of eye health and eye care. Eventually he moved to Auckland where he worked at the prestigious Eye Institute as a clinical optometrist specialising in cataracts and LASIK. In 2014, he was fortunate to get a scholarship to visit New York’s optometry clinic which enhanced his learning in glaucoma and ophthalmic medicines.
At myeyepecialist, he is responsible for a thorough and personalised assessment for all patients and counselling them to help achieve the best vision they can. He has a special interest in dry eye management and contact lenses.
Jack Kavanagh - Therapeutic Optometrist
BVSc/MOptom
Jack graduated with a Master of Optometry and is a fully therapeutically endorsed Optometrist.
He began his career working in Newcastle before getting the opportunity to join an integrated ophthalmology eye care clinic in rural NSW (Coffs Harbour).
He performs full and comprehensive eye assessments with a focus on patient centred care, explaining things in a clear and understandable way, so you can make informed decisions about your eye health and achieve your best vision.
On his days off, Jack enjoys the natural beauty of the surrounding Gold Coast.
