What is an Ophthalmologist?
Ophthalmologists are medical doctors who train for 15 years specialising in surgery and diseases of the eye. Our ophthalmologists are Australian-trained and fellows of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO).
Optometrists are trained at university to prescribe glasses and screen patients for eye diseases. If your optometrist detects an eye disease they will refer you to an ophthalmologist for management.
